PROPOSED BYLAWS CHANGE – VOTE OF MEMBERS NEEDED

The NOSS Executive Board has voted to ask the membership to approve a bylaws change that will make the Treasurer position an appointed position.  Due to the grave importance of financial stability and health of the organization, the Board voted to make this appointed position a voting member with voting rights. The rationale for this request is due to the highly specialized skills needed for the Treasurer position, the extensive process involved with banking changes, and the steep learning curve for this position. If approved by a vote of the membership, the process would involve the following:

  • Interested NOSS members apply for the position.
  • The NOSS Executive Board interviews qualified applicants.
  • The NOSS Executive Board selects the Treasurer.
  • The Treasurer serves a 3-year term and may be re-appointed for additional 3-year terms

Currently, the NOSS Executive Board consists of the elected positions of President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, each serving a two-year term. The President-Elect moves into the President position after a two-year term as President-Elect.  The Executive Board currently has one appointed position, the Conference Manager, who serves a 3-year term, and who may be re-appointed for subsequent terms by the Executive Board.
