Proposal Guidelines and Information

  • All concurrent sessions in the program will be 45 minutes.
  • All presenters of accepted proposals must register for the conference by December 18, 2024, to be included on the program.
  • Presenters must be at the conference. No virtual presentations will be accepted.
  • If the proposal has more than one presenter, only one proposal form should be submitted.
  • For teaching and learning proposals, please include the discipline in your title (i.e. math, writing, etc.)
  • Course numbers should not be in titles or descriptions. Instead, use descriptive words such as intermediate, advanced, etc.
  • If an abbreviation or acronym is used, be sure it is defined in the description.
  • Avoid the use of pronouns when possible.
  • When referencing research or adding citations, please use APA style.
  • Presentations promoting a specific commercial product or service must be sponsored by an exhibitor who has purchased a booth in the exhibit hall. If you are an author of textbooks, software, or other commercial materials, please refrain from promoting any products or programs during your session. This includes circulating any informational flyers or branded products. We keep a firewall between academic and commercial activities at NOSS, and it is important that no talk seem like an infomercial. Our policy is to confine commercial activity to the exhibit area, where publishing companies have ample opportunity to display books, demonstrate software, and distribute promotional literature, and where organizations have the opportunity to recruit new members.
  • Fee waivers for invited speakers/panelists must be requested in advance and approved by the NOSS Executive Board.
  • Information about co-presenters will appear at the end of the proposal form, if applicable.
  • Acceptance confirmation or other feedback will be emailed to all presenters by October 15th.
  • Presentation rooms will include a projector and screen. If the room is larger than a typical classroom, it will also include a microphone and speaker.
  • Presenters are responsible for bringing a laptop or tablet with HDMI-compatible connection.
  • No virtual presentations will be accepted.
  • Funding for registration and travel is the responsibility of presenters.
