ABOUT NOSS In 1976, NADE began as the National Association for Remedial/Developmental Education Studies in Postsecondary Education or NAR/DSPE. The organization has continually offered professional development opportunities for faculty and support staff in higher education for 43 years, and the name change will allow NOSS to continue its mission to:
MISSION NOSS exists to assist education professionals in making a positive difference in the lives of students. STRATEGIC PLAN (2020-2024) A. | ABOUT NOSS-MS NOSS-Mississippi is a state chapter of the National Organization for Student Success (NOSS). NOSS-MS was founded in January 1981. James Barber, from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez, called together a group of developmental educators from across the state to form an organization based on the NOSS principles. Over the nears, NOSS-MS has become a driving force in colleges and institutions across the state of Mississippi. It ensures that students receive an education based on their beginning capabilities and one that will take them as far as they can go. NOSS-MS is a strong, bivrant organization that hs much to offer to all educators. NOSS-MS members are faculty and staff who serve developmental education in a variety of capacities. In addition to teaching college study skills, First-Year-Experience courses, Co-Requisite English and math, reading, and writing courses, our members also work in learning centers, student support programs, retention and assessment programs, and advising and counseling programs. Many of our institutions’ programs provide supplemental instruction, tutoring, mentoring, and labs for college courses. We welcome your involvement and membership. Membership is open to any individual engaged in higher education or interested in the purposes of NOSS-MS. Annual membership runs from October 1st through September 30th.
